Areas of Practice
counseling for children
I love working with children and their families! I offer individual counseling for children aged 4-12 to address a range of issues including anxiety, anger, grief, trauma, and significant life transitions. Many families I see are seeking support for their children in the area of executive function skills such as staying focused and regulating emotions and impulses. I enjoy helping parents feel more confident and joyful and working with them to strengthen their connections with their children.
working with parents
I approach parents with a spirit of respectful collaboration, recognizing that parents are the experts on their own children. Parenting is one of the most intense of all experiences in life; both the joys and struggles. Because it is such a personal and deeply meaningful endeavor, seeking help with parenting or for our children can be scary and feel very vulnerable. I believe that both parents and children are doing the very best that they can and I aim to celebrate and build upon each child and family’s inherent strengths. The structure of my work with parents and caregivers varies depending on the needs of the family. With child clients, I like to schedule regular meetings with parents. I also offer parenting consultation and support to parents separate from child counseling.
consulting with schools & teachers
I am available to work with preschools and elementary schools to provide parent education programming on a variety of topics including emotional awareness, limit setting, parent self-care, anxiety, aggressive play/roughhousing. I offer reflective consultation for preschool teachers to support them in their critical and emotionally intensive work of caring for young children.
